Serving Boca Raton and Fort Lauderdale with Beautiful Dental Crowns

At Sindledecker Dentistry, our two-part focus for our patients is to improve the appearance of our patients' smiles while restoring the function of their teeth. All-ceramic dental crowns can do just that. At our office, serving Boca Raton and Fort Lauderdale, we place all-porcelain dental crowns for our patients in order to protect and cover teeth that may be damaged in some way. Dr. Maxine Sindledecker and Dr. Amanda Sindledecker are both experienced cosmetic dentists, who can restore decayed, broken, or weak teeth, and hold together teeth that have significant cracks by using all-ceramic dental crowns. Not only are our dental crowns beautiful, but they are also strong and can last a lifetime. Contact our Boca Raton office near Fort Lauderdale to learn more about dental crowns and what they can do for your smile.

Who may need dental crowns?

Dental crowns can cover teeth that are damaged and decayed. Also known as "caps," dental crowns may be appropriate for patients of any age who have cracked teeth or a compromised tooth structure from trauma or decay. Dental crowns (as well as dental bridges and dentures) may also be attached to the top of dental implants. If you think you may need porcelain crowns, contact our Fort Lauderdale-area office in Boca Raton. Dental crowns are an ideal way to protect your teeth and undetectably restore the tooth structure.

What are the benefits of all-ceramic dental crowns?

In the past, dental crowns were made of metal and then covered with ceramic. These crowns were functional; however, over time, the porcelain would erode at the bottom of the crowns, exposing a dark line of metal along the gumline. This may not be noticeable in molar crowns at the back of the mouth, but many patients wanted a more aesthetic alternative that also maintained the same strength as metal crowns. More advanced technology has made it possible to create crowns made entirely of pressed porcelain. Not only are these dental crowns strong, but they are also beautiful, and the ceramic material can be matched to the color of the original, remaining teeth.

At Sindledecker Dentistry in Boca Raton, our dental crowns are crafted by our own ceramist in the Fort Lauderdale area. Because dental crowns need to be made specifically to fit our patients' individual teeth, it is important for us to contract with someone who is well-trained, experienced, and trustworthy in order to get the most aesthetic and functional restorations possible for our patients.

How will you place my dental crowns?

In just a few brief visits to our Boca Raton office near Fort Lauderdale, we can place dental crowns and restore the function and aesthetics of your smile. Using digital x-rays, our cosmetic dentist will check the tooth root to ensure that it is still healthy. If there has been too much decay and it has affected the tooth's roots, a root canal may be necessary before placing the dental crown.

If the roots are healthy, we will buff off a small amount of tooth structure in order to make room for your dental crowns. We will take bite impressions, and send the specifications for your dental crowns to the lab where our trained ceramist will craft your restoration. Since it will take a few weeks to create the crowns, we will bond temporary crowns to your teeth for you to wear in the interim.

When the dental crowns are prepared, you will come in for another appointment. After checking your crowns for the correct color and fit, we will bond your new crowns to your teeth. With careful maintenance, your dental crowns should last for many years, giving you a beautiful smile and a strong biting surface.
