I started my career in dentistry at age 15, working after school for a dentist. After high school I became a dental hygienist and finished my undergraduate work at the College of William and Mary. My dental degree was from the University of Michigan (GO BLUE!). There were six women in our class of 150 students. We were the first class to have a relatively large group of women and, as such, made history through our influence and the ensuing change of the culture at the School of Dentistry. I graduated number five in my class with honors and distinction.
I began my dental practice in 1975 in Boca Raton, Florida, with my husband, Larry Sindledecker, who was a well-renowned prosthodontist. My desire to continue my influence in dental education continued as I commuted to the University of Florida, as an Assistant Professor of Dentistry from 1978-1982. There, I helped organize the first chapter of the American Association of Women Dentists. I was also elected to membership in the prestigious Academy of Operative Dentistry.
Professional and family life co-mingled as I had three children, who grew up in the dental practice. In 1984, I was appointed by Governor Bob Graham to serve as the first woman on the Florida Board of Dentistry, where I was chairman of the Probable Cause Committee. I served four years and was then elected to the American College of Dentists. I served as liaison for the Florida Dental Association to the Florida Legislature as well as on the Governor's Task Force against Domestic Violence.
From a treatment perspective, dentistry has changed considerably over the years from a health-based philosophy, to an aesthetic philosophy. I am proud to serve the communities of Boca Raton, West Palm Beach, Fort Lauderdale, and beyond, as a cosmetic dentist that focuses on patient comfort, beautiful results, and maintaining the technology edge. I enthusiastically attend seminars and symposiums on the latest general dentistry and cosmetic dentistry treatments. In order to maintain high standards, I am committed to continuing education and am active in the following professional dentistry organizations.
My husband and partner, Larry Sindledecker, D.D.S., passed away in 2005, which was a huge loss to our practice and our family. I honor him as a hero in dentistry. My daughter, Amanda, joined our practice in June 2007, and so the family association grows as we continue our quest to provide the finest restorative, preventive, and cosmetic care with Health, Caring, and Excellence as our goal for a healthy and beautiful smile.
I am honored and excited to be joining Sindledecker Dentistry as a cosmetic dentist, specializing in metal-free dentistry, porcelain dental crowns, and other smile-enhancing cosmetic dentistry treatments. I have spent many years of my life, from the time I was a newborn baby, child, and young adult, in this very special dental office. I decided I wanted to have a career in dentistry like both of my parents. I am very interested in the new advances in cosmetic and laser dentistry, along with many other aspects of the profession dedicated towards bringing health care to its patients.
Before I started working for the residents of Boca Raton, West Palm Beach, and Deerfield Beach as a cosmetic dentist, I began my training at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. During my training, I also attended The University of Florida, Florida Atlantic University, and Nova Southeastern University, where I recently graduated with a Doctorate of Dental Medicine from the College of Dental Medicine. Upon successful completion of my studies, I received two prestigious awards at the Senior Awards Ceremony. I was presented with both the Award for Excellence in Cosmetic Dentistry from the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry and the Award for Excellence in General Dentistry from the Academy of General Dentistry specifically for "Most likely to be a successful general dentist for excellence in restorative dentistry."
Throughout my education, I focused my attention on science. I have been very fortunate in my life to have a mother and a father who have supported my dreams and goals. I have had the two most inspiring role models anyone could ever imagine.
In the last year of my dental program, I was asked to teach part-time as a teaching assistant for the Operative Dentistry course for first-year dental students. I feel honored to have this wonderful experience and to be able to pass on the knowledge I have gained.
In my spare time I enjoy spending time with my newlywed husband, Jack, who I have known since high school, my other siblings, and my two bulldogs, Rowdy and Jezzebelle. As a cosmetic dentist, I enjoy learning the most advanced techniques in dentistry and spending time with my mother. I am elated at the opportunity to meet and work with the patients of Sindledecker Dentistry to help them achieve the beautiful smiles they deserve.
I belong to the following prestigious dentistry associations:
